Young Changemaker Education

Designed by Lottie Dowling, Going Global Manager

Young Changemaker Education was developed to assist the increased demand of global educators wishing to provide transformative and participatory educational experiences that are rooted in student’s own passions and interests. It aims to improve local and global communities in some way, big or small. Changemaker Education is a core part of Global Citizenship and Global Competence, and it is a fast growing area around the world, across different education sectors. Traditionally it has been an expectation that only tertiary or upper high school students are best equipped to do this work. However, as educational expectations shift towards these transformative and participatory approaches, a variety of student-centered pedagogies are being adopted, and it is becoming clear that Changemaker Education is possible from Early Years Education onwards, even in its most simplest forms.

This is a self paced Professional Development Course. The course is designed in a linear fashion, and content and materials can be accessed at any time. The course’s key content is designed to take approximately five hours to complete. Additional materials are included in the Deep Dive sections at the end of the lessons. It is optional, designed for those wishing to take a deeper dive into specific areas of interest.

It contains four modules, each one containing lessons that contain videos, practical tips and resources that provide insights on what Changemaker Education is, why it is important and how to facilitate it.

At the end of the course, participants will be emailed a certificate of completion for the completed hours of Professional Development in Changemaker Education.
